It should not have been a problem being by-racial in the greatest cosmopolitan country in the world, but it did depend on what neighbourhood you grew up in. In Troy's neighbourhood, you were either Black or Asian. It had not been easy, and even if he did manage to make a few friends, he didn't really feel accepted by either culture. His parents decided to enroll him in Taekwondo school at the age of 5. Troy took an instant liking to the sport and as he showed great promise, he decided to expand his martial arts studies and eventually took Karate, Jiu Jitsu and Judo. His parents were glad to see him take such an interest in what they believed was a character building discipline, but Troy's initial motives had not been so pure. He had taken them, mainly thinking it would help him beat up the kids that were harassing him at school. But as he persevered and immersed himself in the art, the opposite happened. He learned to control his anger and ignore the taunts and after a time, it paid off. The bullies had tired of wasting their energy on someone who was unphased by their pranks, so, the taunts and the harassing stopped, for him at least. Then High School started. Troy had continued his training, and those who had come to know him in grade school had learned that it was best not to mess with him. But High School was another world entirely, and there were many new faces. These scoped out the newcomers, fishing for easy prey, but when their eyes fell on Troy, they moved on. Troy was left alone for the most part. One day, however, when a classmate was surrounded by the school's badass gang, and the name-calling started becoming physical, Troy had to step in. He confronted the hoodlums and called them cowards. He told them that if they wanted to be six against one, then he would gladly be the one. The six hoodlums gladly took up his challenge, but they soon learned their mistake. Troy easily defeated them, but the commotion had brought about the faculty security, and he was promptly taken to the principal's office to await his punishment. But it never came. This particular day, a member of the All-Winner's Society had been invited to do a speech at the school about tolerance and inclusion. Maiden Japan had been on the school grounds and had seen the whole altercation. She praised Troy as the hero and as a result, Troy gathered a new-found respect around school. Having seen his prowess, Maiden Japan took an interest in Troy and offered her services as his teacher. She instructed him in the way of the Ninja and after college offered him a place on the All-Winners Society. Powers Martial arts: Nyte Fyter has a knowledge of various martial arts and has been trained in the Ninja way. Stealth: Due to his Ninja training, Nyte Fyter is able to infiltrate and stalk without being detected. Weaknesses: He is a normal human with no special powers. |
